Troy DeFeo has been working with student ministries since 1989 while attending South Garland High School. He was introduced to Jesus and had a radical calling through Young Life to reach the lost. Working at three local middle schools and building relationships with students, Troy was given the opportunity to share his testimony to over eighty-five kids when he was first saved. People responded to their own calling and received Christ as well…this forever changed Troy’s life. In 1990, Troy lived in Lubbock, Texas as a student at Texas Tech working with Young Life, Navigator’s, and Campus Crusade. He helped start a church in 93’, a dorm ministry from 90-95’, and then in 1995 God used him to bring about the first “all-campus ministry” joining forces to pray, unite, and celebrate every Friday night with guest speakers and musicians. Troy graduated from Texas Tech in 1995 with a BS degree in Family Studies Counseling and a Minor in Substance Abuse Addiction. He worked several months interning as a school counselor and worked full time at the Residential Treatment Center at Buckner Children’s Home. In 1996 Troy moved back to Dallas and became the Youth and Children’s Pastor in Carrolton. In 1998 Troy came back to his home roots and was asked to be the Youth Pastor at Lyons Road Baptist. Several years later, Troy became part of a new calling with his original staff to help start Living Hope Baptist with Joey Thompson. Troy has worked hard to help lead, disciple, and minister to hundreds of students over the years with an amazing leadership team around him. In November 2010, Troy moved from his position as Youth Pastor after 20 years to become the Family Ministry Pastor. Troy enjoys teaching the adult Fellowship Class on Sunday morning’s, facilitating the annual marriage retreats, over-seeing the youth ministry, and working along side the staff in whatever needs to get done. Troy also works full time as a History teacher for Garland ISD. He has been married to his amazing wife Jaime since 2000 (also a teacher and praise band member) and has two children, Camryn and Pearce. Without Jaime’s daily support, ministry would not be the same.
