At Living Hope Bible Church:
We believe and teach that the Bible in its entirety, is the divinely inspired Word of God. We believe that the books comprising the Old and New Testaments, contain the complete written Word of God, and they therefore contain all matters necessary for us to learn God’s plan of Salvation, and His instructions for the conduct of our lives as Christians. We believe the Bible to also contain the instructions for church government and therefore, have no other book of rules or doctrine.
We believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, was born of a virgin and was both fully God and fully man.
We believe that He lived a perfect life and then sacrificed that perfect life on a cross as the only payment for the penalty for our sins. We believe that it is only through that sacrifice, every person has the opportunity to receive forgiveness for their sins resulting in the salvation of their souls.
We believe that Christ Jesus was raised up from the grave on the third day. According to the scriptures: that He appeared alive to many hundreds of people over the next 40 days. After which He was lifted up into heaven in the presence of many witnesses. We believe that Jesus continues to work tirelessly in the hearts of men and women to bring them to repentance and Godly living, through the Holy Spirit.
We believe that salvation is available from no other source than by admitting you have sinned, realizing your need for a Savior, surrendering to Christ Jesus, and accepting His sacrifice on the cross as the only acceptable payment for the penalty for your sins. We teach that you must purposely and personally, by faith accept Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior, and that your faith is verified by Christ like conduct, adherence to Biblical teaching, and obedience to Biblical principals.
We believe that Water Baptism is commanded as an act of obedience following salvation. We teach that Christian Baptism is an outward sign of a change of heart toward God, and a desire to be obedient to the example and teachings of Christ Jesus. We teach that Christian Baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. We further teach that Baptism symbolizes the death and burial of the old person who had not surrendered to Christ, and the resurrection of the new person one becomes when he or she truly accepts Jesus our Lord. In keeping with the practices of believers in New Testament times, the teaching of scripture and the observation of the symbolism represented by burial and resurrection, we practice Baptism by immersion for any individual who is of sufficient age and understanding to comprehend it’s significance and meaning.
We believe in sharing together in the observation of the Lord’s Supper; communion. We teach that the scriptural requirements for partaking of the articles, the bread representing the body of Christ and the cup representing His blood shed for our redemption, is first to honestly examine ourselves and repent of any and all sin. This self examination must include asking the Lord Jesus to reveal to us any unchrist like behavior, any unforgiveness, or any other unresolved matter that would disqualify us from partaking of the communion service. After self examination, all believers are invited to share together, remembering that which Jesus endured and submitted Himself to, so that we could be forgiven for our sins.
We believe that Jesus is coming again in visible form, and join with the apostle John in saying “Come quickly Lord Jesus!” We regard all men and women everywhere who are true believers in our resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to be our brothers and sisters in Him.
We join with them in obedience to our Lords command, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you,”
